Young Knifes Cookery Club, aimed at 15-18 year old’s the club will be a 8 week journey through the workings of the catering industry, working all the way to creating their own pop up!

8 x Wednesdays starting 8th April 2026. It’s important to be able to attend each class to get the most out of the course.

For 8 weeks we meet, eat, cook & plan what their pop ups look like together. Held at our site, Lar.Da with 10 fellow students. Carl, Elaine & other industry professionals, will be showcasing what the catering industry has to offer, teaching skills that can be transferred in to every day life and the working world.

Week 1 - Would you like a cup of tea?

Introductions, course layout, teams formed & a focus on meet & greet

Week 2 - The paper work has to be done!

Compliance, food hygiene, brain storm on ideas & a focus on safe delivery of food

Week 3 - Service Please!

Our second industry specialist joins us to talk about the art of service, the customer experience & what it means to deliver more than the expected.

Week 4 - Plot, Plan, Pilot

Pads out, cooking books open! We plan our pop up in detail, split the rolls up & get ready for our first cook off!

Week 5 - Round 1

The first of 2 cook offs, 1 team in the driving seat, the other in support.

Week 6 - Round 2

Roll reversal! The teams switch it up!

Week 7 & 8

We hold pop ups at Lar.Da, where all are invited to come & celebrate the classes results.

  • Cost £175 (payable in full before course starts)

  • Optional food Hygiene certificate level 1 and 2, £15 each
